The Weeknd to star in and co-writer pop culture cult drama The Idol set at HBO

The Weeknd is clearly not stopping his reign in music. After a fantastic 2020 with ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘After Hours’ album followed by Superbowl Halftime performance this year, the singer is set to star in and co-write a cult drama series for HBO titled The Idol.

According to Deadline, The Weeknd, otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye, will be starring in and co-write The Idol will “follow a female pop artist who begins an affair with an intriguing L.A. club owner who is the leader of a hidden cult.”

At this time, it's unclear whose character The Weeknd will play on the show. He will executive produce with his creative producer and renowned Los Angeles nightlife entrepreneur Reza Fahim and BAFTA Award-winning Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. Joseph Epstein will serve as showrunner, and Mary Laws will serve as a co-writer and executive producer on the project.

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested actor Armaan Kohli for illegal possession of drugs, on August 29. On Saturday, August 28, the actor's residence was raided after which the same evening, he was taken to NCB office for questioning. Dwayne Johnson to reunite with Jumanji director Jake Kasdan for Christmas-themed adventure movie Red One

Filmmaker Jake Kasdan is reuniting with his Jumanji star Dwayne Johnson for Red One , the unique Christmas-themed feature project set up at Amazon. Hiram Garcia, the President of production of Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions created the original story which is now being translated into a script by Chris Morgan, who previously worked with Johnson on four Fast and Furious movies as well as the Johnson-led 2019 spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw . According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon picked up the project in June. The details are being kept in the sack but Red One , which is a tentative title, is described by Amazon as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.” Johnson is attached to star, possibly even as Santa himself, and is producing with his Seven Bucks Productions cohorts, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.
